Whilst I thank Graham Nalty (Letters LTT 2 May) for his constructive comments, I will still part company from him on his criticisms of an HS2 station at Old Oak Common and the use of 400-metre trains on HS2.

Operationally, being on a relatively slow speed section of line close to London and between tunnels, the time penalty of stopping at Old Oak is less than would be the case for a station further out of London. In its operational characteristics HS2 will be more to a suburban railway, albeit...
