‘No need to revise crossing times’

Transport for London has rejected the London Assembly’s call for pedestrians to be given more time to cross the road at signal-controlled crossings. 

The Assembly’s transport committee had recommended TfL use an assumed walking speed of 0.8 metres per second to calculate minimum crossing times, compared with the assumed walking speed of 1.2 metres per second in DfT guidance.
