The timescale for building a new ‘rapid transit link’ between Cardiff and Pontyclun, northwest of the city, is unrealistic, a Welsh transport academic has warned. 

The link would serve an area of major housing expansion in north-west Cardiff. A ‘garden city’ is planned west of Fairwater, featuring a further 7,000 homes.
