Gloucestershire floats third Severn crossing

Gloucestershire County Council is to explore the case for building a third road crossing over the Severn estuary, located north of the two existing crossings. 

The council says the crossing could connect the A48 on the west side of the estuary with the A38, which runs down the east. 

The structure could relieve the A40 that passes through Gloucester, which sits at the head of the Severn estuary.
