Consultants have recommended building a new parkway rail station in Rotherham to improve the town’s access to longer-distance rail services.
Local trains currently serve Rotherham Central station, which opened in 1987 and lies on a loop off the Doncaster-Sheffield main line. Its opening led to the closure of Rotherham Masborough station, which was on the main line.
