The Independent Parking Committee (IPC) welcomes the judgment of the Supreme Court, which provides long-awaited confirmation from the highest level that parking charges are not only lawful but, in the words of Lord Neuberger:

“Overstaying penalties are… a normal feature of parking contracts on public and on private land… They are beneficial not just to [the operator], the landowner and the retail outlets, but to the motorist themselves because they make a parking space...
