A car was almost swallowed by a huge hole that opened up on a street in south-east London last month.
The Vauxhall Zafira had been parked on Woodland Terrace in Charlton in the evening. At around 3.20 in the morning it was discovered by police teetering on the edge of a chasm. The blue people carrier was lifted out of the hole by a crane and Thames Water engineers checked for damage to clean water and sewer pipes.
There is speculation that the collapse could be due to a period of heavy rain.
