£250m Kent lorry park to be built at Stanford, DfT confirms

The £250m lorry area intended to ease traffic problems caused by Operation Stack will be built near Stanford in Kent, transport secretary Patrick McLoughlin has announced. 

The lorry is intended to keep the M20 moving during disruption to cross-channel services. At present, Highways England has to implement Operation Stack, a procedure that sees sections of M20 used as a lorry park.
