Margaret Leslie, operations manager at Bournemouth Borough Council’s parking services team, passed away on 18 September. She had been living with cancer for a short time and passed away with her family back in her home town of Glasgow.
She started her long parking career as a police traffic warden, becoming a head traffic warden before transferring to Bournemouth Council in 2001 as operations manager.
Elaine Smith, deputy parking services manager, said: “Margaret was an incredible person, friendly, kind, knowledgeable and someone you could always rely on. Despite her illness she continued to work and, typical of Margaret, she appeared cheerful in spite of everything. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.”
In recognition of her long service and high regard in which she was held, the flag outside the Town Hall in Bournemouth was flown at half-mast on 28 September, the day of her funeral.
