Wiltshire Council spends £25,000 upgrading parking machines to accept new £1 coin

Wiltshire Council has spent £25,000 converting parking machines in car parks across the county to accept the new 12-sided £1 coins.

The lighter and larger £1 coin is being introduced across the country on 28 March in a bid to prevent counterfeiting.

The change has required that councils across the UK have to adapt ticket machines and other machinery reliant on coinage to make sure the new tender is accepted.
