Network Rail has applied to the Secretary of State for a Transport and Works Act Order to close or modify about 130 level crossings across Cambridgeshire, Suffolk, Essex, Hertfordshire, Havering, Southend and Thurrock. The closures affect crossings where there are private rights only (such as for farmers) as well as where people can be diverted to a nearby alternative route.
