Car thefts increased by 16% to almost 93,000 in England and Wales last year, according to the latest crime figures released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS). The latest police recorded crime figures show that there were 1,820,079 theft offences recorded in the year ending December 2016, a 4% increase compared with the previous year.
