Legislation to extend the high-speed rail network from the West Midlands to Crewe, and new powers to facilitate autonomous and electric vehicles, were included in the Queen’s Speech this week.
The High Speed Rail (West Midlands – Crewe) Bill will give the Government the power to build phase 2a of the high-speed rail line, from Fradley in Staffordshire to a junction with the West Coast Main Line just south of Crewe. This is part of the western leg of the HS2 network.
