A guide to help councils understand on-street electric vehicles charging has been produced by UK Power Networks. 

The guide explains the three types of charge point:

• Slow (up to 3kW) – 8-10 hours to charge

• Fast (7-22kW) – two to five hours to charge

• Rapid (greater than 43kW) – can deliver an 80% charge in around 30 minutes
