Associated British Ports has completed the refurbishment of two of the large car decks used to store new vehicles awaiting export via Southampton.
The roof decks of the Itchen and Empress structures need to be fully weatherproof to prevent water leaking through to the lower levels with the risk of damaging the new vehicles during storage.
The waterproofing membranes are regularly inspected and generally replaced every 10 years. This work normally has to be completed over the summer period...
