A replica of an open air Tudor theatre is set to take residence in a York car park next summer. York City Council has given the go-ahead for the construction of a ‘pop-up’ theatre modelled on London’s Globe and Rose theatres. The 12-sided theatre will stage plays Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet, and A Midsummer Night's Dream for 1,000 theatregoers. 

The temporary structure would be erected on the York Castle surface car park, opposite the 13th Century Clifford's Tower...
