Surrey consults on rural parking charges

People visiting the Surrey countryside may soon have to pay to park.

Surrey County Council is consulting on the introduction of car park charges as way of helping maintain the 6,500 acres of countryside estate it owns.

The county says continuing cuts to its funding, rising costs and an increasing demand for key services mean that the needs to find new ways of financing its rural services.
