Transport for London is consulting on a proposed pedestrian and cycle bridge across the Thames in east London, connecting Rotherhithe on the south bank with Canary Wharf on the north.
TfL says the area lacks crossing facilities for pedestrians and cyclists, with the only existing options being the Greenwich foot tunnel and the Rotherhithe Tunnel. The latter is a road tunnel and is “regularly avoided by pedestrians and cyclists”.
