Camden council to tackle engine idling

Camden Council has approved new measures to help reduce emissions from stationary idling vehicles that create pollution on the roads of the north London borough.

The new powers, agreed by the full council on 20 November, mean civil enforcement officers (CEOs) will now be able to issue fixed penalty notices (FPN) to drivers who refuse to switch off their engines in a stationary vehicle.

Tackling engine idling forms part of the council’s Clean Air Action Plan to tackle air pollution.
