An outer London borough is pressing Sadiq Khan to reduce the proposed mayoral Community Infrastructure Levy (MCIL) that development in the borough will have to pay to part-fund Crossrail 2.
Consultation closed this month on the mayor’s plan for a second MCIL (‘MCIL2’) on new development across the capital. The levy would part-fund the proposed £30bn (2014 prices) Crossrail 2 project connecting the rail networks in south-west and north-east London.
