The owners of London Southend Airport have called on the Government to extend the Elizabeth Line to Southend. Glyn Jones, chief executive officer of airport owner Stobart Aviation, said the airport could grow patronage from one million to ten million a year with better surface access. “We ideally need a non-stop rail connection to at least Stratford in east London,” he said, adding: “Here’s a thought for parliamentarians – how about extending the new Elizabeth line...
