The proposed £100m upper limit for DfT contributions to Major Road Network (MRN) improvements is too low, Lancashire County Council has told the DfT.
The new National Roads Fund, created by ring-fencing Vehicle Excise Duty revenues in England, will fund improvements to the MRN of the most important local authority roads. The DfT has said applications should be for between £20m and £100m, and expects most applications will not exceed £50m.
