The Government is underfunding the mandatory free off-peak bus travel scheme in England outside London by £652m a year, the Local Government Association has claimed.
The estimate has been calculated in work by Paul Woods, chief finance officer for the North East Combined Authority. His analysis of the scheme’s underfunding in the North East was reported last issue (LTT 01 Feb).
