Blackpool Council plans to spend up to £16m building new town centre car parking to replace sites lost to redevelopment and to increase capacity.
Blackpool currently has 4,173 car parking spaces in and around the town centre, of which 3,149 are council-controlled and 1,024 privately-controlled.
The council says that, at peak holiday times, the car parks can be full by mid-afternoon.
