Barry Hutton, a teacher, researcher, and polemicist, has died, aged 83. With a degree in geography from Nottingham (in 1957) and a masters in highways and traffic engineering from Birmingham (in 1962), Barry started his career in transport planning working for a Yorkshire firm of architects and planning consultants, but soon moved into teaching in the town planning department of Leeds College of Art.
