The prospect of a workplace parking levy being introduced in Leicester has become firmer following Labour’s Sir Peter Soulsby being re-elected as the city’s mayor for a third time.
Sir Peter’s first choice votes tally of 51,444 saw him take a 61% share. This was 36,924 more votes than second-placed Conservative candidate Baroness Sandip Verma.
Labour cemented its hold on the city council by securing 53 of the 54 available seats.
