Pollution shortens life of city’s buses

Lothian Buses saw its operating profit almost wiped out last year after directors cut the expected life of buses from 15 to 12 years, citing the heightened political focus on.

The municipal company’s operating profit fell to 0.6 per cent, from 6.1 per cent in 2017. “Profit from operations decreased directly as a result of a board decision to implement changes to the bus depreciation policy due to rapidly changing emission regulations driving fleet renewals,” says the operator....
