The prospect of a blanket ban on parking on the footway being introduced in England was played down by road safety minister Michael Ellis when he gave evidence to the House of Commons Transport Committee on 3 July as part of its inquiry into the problems of pavement parking. Ellis, who joined the Department for Transport (DfT) in June, said he recognised the accessibility issues pavement parking causes for disabled road users, but warned there was “no silver bullet” solution.
