Workplace parking charging powers approved by key committee

The Scottish Parliament’s rural economy and connectivity committee has approved an amendment to the Transport (Scotland) Bill, which will give councils a discretionary power to implement a workplace parking levy (WPL). Councils will have the power to levy a tax on employers for each parking space they provide for employees, with the firms themselves then left to decide whether to pass the cost on to staff.
