The House of Commons transport committee has called on the Government to create a dedicated active travel fund for councils in England, saying existing funding arrangements are “too piecemeal and complex”.
The report of the committee’s active travel inquiry says the Government should revise its cycling and walking investment strategy with more ambitious targets to increase the amount of travel by both modes.
