A woman is challenging the way in which private parking companies charge disabled and non-disabled people exactly the same for the period of time they park.
Claire Withnall, 36, was left severely disabled after a stroke. She told BBC Radio 4’s consumer programme You and Yours that it was unfair that NCP charged the same for using disabled parking bays as regular spaces. She said this policy meant she was uneasy using a car park in the Essex town of Colchester.
