Caddick Construction has been appointed to build the new multi-storey car park at Bruntwood SciTech’s Alderley Park in Cheshire. Located less than 20 miles from Manchester city centre and within 20 minutes’ drive of Manchester Airport, Alderley Park is home to a bioscience campus and workspace for tech focussed companies.

The 2,227-space, seven-storey car park will include disabled spaces and electric vehicle charging points. A mini-roundabout will also be built.
Caddick Construction, which will build the car park, is already on site delivering a £6.8m refurbishment and expansion of No.21 Mereside, a four-storey laboratories and office building.

The materials used for the façade will reflect the surrounding natural environment. The car park’s exterior will feature vertical feature fins to mirror the cladding of the opposite building, with its elevations further broken with a mix of façade treatments to provide visual interest, variation and softness, alongside the adjacent woodland, including a mix of a living green wall and a climbing plant system.

Building the car park will mean other areas of Alderley Park can be pedestrianised. Landscaping work to improve the public realm, green space and pedestrian environment will also be delivered.

Cheshire East Council’s strategic planning board gave Alderley Park the green light for the car park in January.

In recommending the scheme for approval, council officers said: “The proposals will have positive benefits for pedestrians and site users, which will have knock-on benefits for the site and help build on the success of the site to the area and borough as a whole. There are also considered to be traffic management benefits from the scheme. The proposals will have a neutral impact on most other issues, including, amenity, ecology and environmental impacts.”
