David Malone, transport and travel advisor at The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Trust, used LinkedIn to ask local businesses whether they could give staff free parking.
Malone wanted to access to spaces in car parks near the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) and the Freeman Hospital.
“To reduce risk of infection and reduce social interaction to a minimum, public transport is naturally a concern for our staff,” he wrote.
“I’m seeking free parking provision in any car parks within Newcastle for NHS staff working at the RVI (at least 1,500 to 2,000 more spaces needed) and anything in close proximity to the Freeman Hospital.”
