Videalert launches Stingray mobile ANPR system

Traffic enforcement systems specialist Videalert has launched a new modular automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) camera solution. The Stingray is designed for use with Videalert’s expanding range of multi-purpose mobile enforcement vehicles (MEVs).

It is a modular solution featuring HD cameras with infrared lighting that will deliver enhanced capture rates for parking and traffic management applications.

The Stingray’s cameras and networking components are housed in a roof-mounted pod that is designed to be easier to install and less obtrusive than individual roof-rack mounted units.

It features integrated infrared lighting that can capture images of reflective number plates at distances of up to 40 metres. A full-colour overview module configured to capture contextual images of vehicles in both daylight and challenging light conditions.

Tim Daniels, sales and marketing director of Videalert, said: “This innovative camera solution will be fitted to all our new MEV platforms and also be retrofitted to existing vehicles.

“It can deliver higher productivity as number plate read rates of over 98% could be achieved in a wide range of applications with vehicles being driven at normal road speeds.

“Maintenance is also simplified as the complete housing can be quickly replaced in the event of a parts failure. This minimises down time for MEVs and to further increase productivity.”
