I read, with no surprise, the letter “Moving traffic offences – a new way to clobber motorists” (LTT 21 August) regarding ‘civil enforcement’ of minor moving vehicle offences. 

There is NO ‘criminality’ here, merely a ‘penalty charge’ for damage done to society. I’m an old hand, having driven some half a million miles in 55 years and, as yet, no endorsements, fines or penalty charge notices (PCNs). I was also involved with...
