Councils ask: 'Do we still need a CAZ?'

Sheffield, Leeds and Bristol city councils are all reviewing whether they still need to implement a clean air zone (CAZ) to comply with legal limits on nitrogen dioxide concentrations. 

The councils say Covid-19 has fundamentally altered travel patterns, raising questions about whether a charging CAZ is still necessary.

Bristol’s proposal to introduce a blanket ban on diesel cars in part of the city centre has been rejected by the Government.
