The DfT must reform Bus Service Operators Grant (BSOG) to align it with Government policy objectives, the National Audit Office said this week. 

The recommendation features in the final report of a value for money study of local bus services in England outside London. 

The NAO looked mainly at the state of the industry prior to the Covid-19 pandemic. 

BSOG, which was last reformed in 2013, was worth £248m in 2018/19.
