Fifteen rail reopening proposals in England have been awarded up to £50,000 each to allow the ideas to be developed.
The awards from the ‘Ideas’ stream of the DfT’s Restoring Your Railway fund come despite rail demand plummeting to a level not seen for more than a century because of the Covid-19 pandemic and reports that the Treasury is concerned about the ongoing cost of keeping services running.
