The DFT is preparing the regulations to give councils outside London moving traffic offence enforcement powers.

In a letter sent to councils at the end of November, the DfT said: “Work will start shortly on the various regulations to bring the [Traffic Management Act 2004] Part 6 powers into force, which is likely to take some months to complete.” 

Councils will have to apply to the secretary of state for a legal order designating all or part of their network as a civil...
