The opinion piece by Lucy Marstrand-Taussig (Road traffic is a COVID emergency, 1st January 2021) contains the usual rhetoric, alternative facts and tired old arguments.
Yes, only 2% of journeys in the UK are made by bicycle despite years of 'encouragement' and attempts to obstruct motorised transport. Short journey distance is a one-dimensional argument that ignores much more important factors related to the likes of personal choice, journey purpose, weather and convenience.
