All new streets built in England should be lined with trees to enhance their beauty, the Government has said. The policy is included in a proposed revision to the National Planning Policy Framework published for consultation.
“Planning policies and decisions should ensure that new streets are tree-lined unless, in specific cases, there are clear, justifiable and compelling reasons why this would be inappropriate,” says the added text.
