Oil company Shell wants to become a net zero emissions company 2050, expanding its renewables, biofuels, and hydrogen businesses. It has boosted targets to reduce the net amount of carbon dioxide it generates.
Shell confirmed its expectation that total carbon emissions for the company peaked in 2018, and oil production peaked in 2019. Shell will use its existing refineries to start to produce biofuels and hydrogen.
