Bath charging Clean Air Zone goes live

Lorries, coaches, vans and buses have to pay, but cars are exempt

The UK’s first charging Clean Air Zone (CAZ) outside London went live in Bath city centre on 16 March. The CAZ is intended to bring nitrogen dioxide concentrations down to legal levels.

The Class C CAZ, implemented by Bath & North East Somerset Council, imposes daily charges of £9 on non-compliant vans, minibuses and private hire vehicles, and £100 on non-compliant HGVs, buses and coaches.
