Train company Greater Anglia has installed more than 1,000 new cycle spaces across its network over the past 12 months.
A total of 1,176 additional cycle spaces have been created, bringing the total number of cycle spaces on the network to over 10,000.
Other works to improve cycle parking included better CCTV and lighting.
Simone Bailey, Greater Anglia’s asset management director, said: “We would like to thank all of the organisations who supported these schemes. We are continuing to improve our stations and to offer convenient, secure integrated transport opportunities to help encourage more eco-friendly journeys.”
In the last year cycle improvements costing more than £2.7m have been made at Audley End, Billericay, Bishops Stortford, Braintree, Diss, Dullingham, Elsenham, Manningtree, March, Marks Tey, Newmarket, Rochford, Saxmundham, Southend Victoria and Whittlesford Parkway railway stations.
The spaces have been partly funded by local authorities including Essex County Council, Fenland District Council and Cambridgeshire County Council.
