After months of delay Birmingham’s ‘Class D’ Clean Air Zone (CAZ) was launched on 1 June. However, Birmingham City Council said it will delay taking payment or enforcing the scheme until 14 June after some motorists reported problems as they tried to pay for journeys.

The zone covers the area inside the city’s A4540 Middleway Ring Road and will see drivers of non-compliant vehicles face a daily charge to enter or drive through the city centre new zone.
