Plans to re-open the long closed rail link from Rawtenstall to Manchester has received overwhelming support in a survey carried out by Rossendale Council.
Some 86% of Bury and Rossendale residents who responded to the survey support a new rail link from the Lancashire town to Manchester city centre.
The proposed link would see journey times of around 44 minutes into central Manchester, and would reduce car journeys on the M66/A56 by anywhere between one to three million, according to Rossendale...
