A Call for Evidence has been opened into the Transport Committee’s Accessible Transport: Legal Obligations Inquiry.
The Committee notes that a variety of legal obligations to ensure accessibility apply to transport operators and local licensing authorities across different modes of transport, and wants to look at these obligations and whether they are being met.
It says it would like to receive evidence about how effective is the current legislation aimed at ensuring accessible transport for all and how it can be better enforced to make accessible transport a reality?
Other issues it is interested in include how effective are the relevant regulators at enforcing accessibility in transport and do current legal obligations or guidance need to be strengthened?
It asks how effective is the Government’s Inclusive Transport Strategy, and how well does it influence decision-making across transport policy and how it could be improved?
The Committee has set up an online survey so users can provide t a short description of their personal experiences when travelling, without responding to the full terms of reference.
The questionnaire can be found here: https://bit.ly/3jA2lon
