The Welsh Government has backed down on its proposed prohibition of the use of Vehicle Activated Signs in lit areas where 20mph is the default speed limit.

The government is taking a strict approach to 20mph repeater signs after the default limit in Wales changes from 30mph to 20mph on 17 September. Highway authorities will have 12 months to remove all existing 20mph repeaters. They will install 30mph repeaters on lit roads which have been excepted from the default limit.
