Luke Murphy, the Labour MP for Basingstoke, has been elected Chair of the all-party parliamentary group (APPG) on climate change. He previously led think tank IPPR’s work on energy, climate and the environment.
The other key positions on the group have been shared out between Tories, Lib Dems and Greens.
Peer and former Tory Environment Minister Zac Goldsmith will be vice-chair, as will new Lib Dem MP for South Cambridgeshire Pippa Heylings and Green co-leader and MP for Bristol Central Carla Denyer.
Campaign group Uplift will continue to work as the group’s secretariat.
