The value for money of urban road schemes and demand management schemes, could be significantly boosted if the DfT accepts consultants’ recommendations and builds improvements in journey time reliability into scheme appraisal.
A new report for the DfT by Hyder Consulting shows the impact of incorporating reductions to travel time variability (TTV) into the appraisal of two road schemes: a notional link road in Bath and junction and link capacity improvements in Nottingham.
